Our less traditional, but still effective options...
At Willamette Valley Dyslexia Center, we recognize that many kids need support in literacy instruction, and that there are many reasons why you may be interested in an alternate option.
We have been working hard to bring our community a sustainable option, that will give struggling readers the same opportunity to find confidence and success, but in a different format than a traditional 1:1 setting.
We believe we can change the world through literacy.
We also believe that there isn't a one size fits all way to get this done.
Small Group tutoring
There are a lot of reasons why a small group is beneficial for a child and instruction.
1. It offers a similar aged peer support system. Many of our kids feel emotional about their struggles, isolated, and unworthy. A supportive group can make a big difference in their self-image.
2. Our 4:1 model allows our tutors to provide flexible, differentiated instruction to each child, retaining the feel and results of 1:1 tutoring.
3. We can provide more opportunities for practice. Within this model, kids would attend M/W or T/Th sessions.
4. Cost Share allows us to offer our high-quality, results driven, instruction at a lower cost to you. We can offer small groups priced at $220/ month.
Homeschool-ish
Are you taking the plunge into homeschool in the next school year? Maybe, you're a veteran homeschool hero, and just need a little change in scenery. We are excited to announce our Homeschool pods for the 24-25 school year.
This year WVDC is opening the morning slots to support literacy, art, and STEAM. This program will serve multi-ages, up to 6 kids in a group. These groups will have an assigned tutor and an assistant to keep kids engaged, and on task.
Groups will run Monday - Wednesday - Friday 9:00 - 11:30, snacks are provided.
Here is a sample schedule:
Over 3 days kids will attend individual OG tutoring sessions, at least twice, and when they are not in tutoring they will be working on other literacy, writing, art, and STEAM tasks supportive to their ability and growth.
There will be two groups: 7 - 10 years & 11 - 13 years.

Cost for this is $35/ day (billed as $420/ month, flat rate monthly. Tuition rate accommodates for closures for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year weeks), we encourage attendance on all days, as activities are curated to support literacy independence.
We will work on decoding, reading fluency, comprehension, & writing. Art & Steam will facilitate literacy skills.
We can help you build your portfolio for the state requirements, & facilitate state testing at your request.
Commitments will be for the duration of the school year (September 19 to May 23) There will be a separate summer attendance option.
